Dr. Dan Lumley is a national educational and business consultant who has trained thousands of educators, school bus drivers, and business leaders all over America on how to communicate, motivate, and facilitate. His program called Student Motivation & Behavior Management: Tips, Traps, Tools and To Do’s, has been described as fast moving, humorous, and full of practical advice that can be used immediately in the school house, and school bus. Recognized as a dynamic speaker and presenter, Dr. Lumley is a sought after keynote speaker and workshop presenter.

The National School Board Association has described Dr. Lumley as “one of our most popular presenters.” A Regional Education Service Center of Michigan cited Dr. Lumley as “the most popular consultant we have ever had from the outside. Together with Dr. Gerald Bailey from Kansas State University, Dr. Lumley has written a number of technology leadership-related articles for journals such as Electronic Learning, The School Administrator, The Curriculum Leader, NASSP Journal, Educational Technology, and Educational Considerations. Their work in technology planning and staff development was featured in a special supplement of Electronic Learning for building principals sponsored by Apple Inc.

Among the books they have authored are: Planning for Technology: a Guidebook for School Administrators (1999) and Creating a Technology Staff Development Program: An Administrator's Sourcebook for Redefining Teaching and Learning (1999). Their Leadership in Technology: What School Board Members Need to Know was published by The National Association of School Boards in 2000. Dr. Lumley and Bailey’s leadership books are used as resource books in school districts and universities throughout the country.

In 2002, Dr. Lumley was named to the National Editorial Board of Scholastic’s School Administrator Journal. He has been named by NSBA’s Electronic School Journal as one of the top 100 educational leaders in America. In 2009, he authored a 21st Century Learning Program that won a First Place National School Board Magna Award.

Dr. Lumley has been an adjunct professor at three universities, and has won numerous awards during his career as a teacher, principal, district school administrator and national consultant. In 1998, Lumley was named Kansas Outstanding Curriculum Leader by the Kansas Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development and was the recipient of a 1998 Educational Leadership Award given by the University Council for Educational Leadership in Washington DC. This national award is given annually to school administrators who have demonstrated an exemplary record of supporting school administrator preparation efforts. He was named a Kansas State University’s Distinguished Alumni Fellow in 2000, and was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Emporia State University in 2001.
